Like small children and some adults, dogs love rituals. Every night before bed, Lulu and Phoebe have a small, but sacred routine. Milk, cookies, a little television. Oh wait, that's us. Their routine is a little more comical and a lot more fun.
They know that as we turn the lights off and move toward the bedroom that crate time is looming. They love their crate space because it's loaded with blankets and covered with one for the night; the perfect nest yet close enough that we hear them snoring.
But before that they have one more thing to do. Every. Single. Night.
The very second the quilt is tossed off the bed, they jump right up and do a small bitey face routine. Bitey face involves a few play bows, some snorts, quite a few spins, and a fewbug wide eyed looks, along with the baring of teeth, but no actual teeth touching and snorts. Then, Phoebe usually takes off like a marble shot from a canon and does what we fondly refer to as the BT500, or translated: road runner in real time.
The entire ritual takes less than a minute and a half in total and always, as in every single time, ends with a snort by Lulu signifying the end of the game. They retreat willingly to their crate at the foot of the bed and wait patiently for one more thing. A one quarter piece of an extra strength wintergreen TUMS. What started out as a reflux helper for Phoebe, ended up being the most coveted treat this side of Mars.
Welcome to Lulu and Phoebe world, where girls just wanna have fun.

L&P (shot with my iPhone...I need a flip I think)

Aw. You should sell tickets, take the girls on the road. My moppet is much more sedate, just waits at my side until I hobble off to bed, then cuddles up quietly.
(Can heartily recommend the Flip.)

It's just as funny--and sometimes a bit more destructive--when our bigger mutts Lily and Jeff do it.
Aw squared!
